Yorkshire Sculpture International continues

Ayşe Erkmen’s works are often influenced by the historical, cultural, political and geographical importance of particular places, including their architectural features. For Yorkshire Sculpture International, the artist also designed an installation that integrates the exhibition space. As the false ceiling that had been in place since the 1960s in the gallery that allowed the display of film and video works was demolished during the building’s 2016 renovation, the original glass ceiling recently came to light. Inspired by the splendor of this area of the building, Erkmen, with her work titled three of four has created a space for the visitors to observe the entire area by reducing the four sections of the glass ceiling to three . The festival continues until September 29.
