Peter Kogler’s works bear traces of architecture, cinema, and the new media, as well as minimalism and Pop Art. Using computer to create his motifs, Kogler reinvents the idea of fresco and decorative wallpaper in a global architectural perspective. His profound blend of inspirations drawn from corporal and figurative domains give rise to motifs such as ants, pipes, or the brain, motifs that are quite clear in meaning and immediately recognisable.
Peter Kogler’s (b. 1959, Innsbruck) selected solo and group exhibitions include ING Art Center, Brussels (2016); Sigmund Freud Museum, Wien (2015); Panonia Vobiscum (2015); Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb (2014); Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki (2013); Dirimart, Istanbul (2011); MSGSÜ Tophane-i Kültür Merkezi, Istanbul (2010); Mudam, Luxemburg (2010); Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt (2010). Kogler lives and works in Vienna.
