Dirimart is pleased to present at Paris Photo 2025, a selection of works from an ongoing photographic series by Turkish artist Cihan Öncü (b. 1986). In this body of work, Öncü invites viewers to be immersed by the singular beauty of everyday images and to reconsider what is often dismissed as banal.

With a poetic and sensory approach, Öncü reimagines landscapes and still lifes—some staged, others found—as visual meditations. These classical subjects, long familiar in the history of art, take on a different status here, one that transcends simple representation. Objects that once seemed ordinary become strangely unsettling, evoking an eerie familiarity that challenges perception. In one striking example, Origins (2025), the viewer encounters a multitude of immaculately-shelled eggs, transformed into an image of a polymorphous idol—at once serene and disquieting.

Öncü’s work explores the tension between the visible and the unknowable. By decentring the subject and questioning visual conventions, he captures a fleeting timelessness—a sense of souls doomed to disappear. Dirimart’s presentation invites viewers to slow down—to observe not only Öncü’s compositions, but also the quiet ambiguities that lie beneath their surface.
