Gabriela Těthalová (b. 1988, Czech Republic) completed her Master’s degree in mathematics at Charles University, Prague, in 2013. She later studied painting at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, and the University of Applied Arts Vienna. In 2020, she graduated from Prof Jutta Koether’s studio at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg. She was awarded third place in the Young Painting Art Criticism Award in 2017; and in 2023, she received the Jindřich Chalupecký Award, which honours emerging Czech artists. Her solo exhibitions include Hyperbole Rising, Dirimart Pera, Istanbul (2024); Lattice of Resemblance, Šachta, Prag (2021); Apokatastasis & Fuga per canonem, City Gallery Pardubice, Pardubice (2020); Prelude, HFBK Bibliothek, Hamburg (2018) and Okem doprava přes levý konec, Studio ALTA, Prag (2015). Among her group exhibitions are Jindřich Chalupecký Award, PLATO, Ostrava (2023); Sift, NARS Main Gallery, NARS Foundation, New York (2022); Academy POSITIONS, Flughafen Tempelhof, Berlin (2020) and Reverse Mantra, ZÖNOTÉKA, Berlin (2019). Gabriela Těthalová lives and works in Berlin and Prague.
