Karin Kneffel (b. 1957, Marl) studied at the University of Münster, the Comprehensive University of Duisburg, and the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, with Johannes Brus, Norbert Tadeusz, and Gerhard Richter, later becoming Richter’s master student. She was a visiting professor at Hochschule für Künste Bremen and the Iceland University of the Arts in Reykjavík and has held teaching positions at the University of the Arts Bremen and the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. Her recent solo exhibitions include A House in Hampstead, Dirimart London, London (2025); Face to Face, Kunstverein Freunde aktueller Kunst, Zwickau (2025); Come in, Look out, Museum Küppersmühle, Duisburg (2024); Face of a Woman, Head of a Child, Franz Gertsch Museum, Burgdorf (2024); Im Bild, Franz Marc Museum, Kochel am See (2022) and Intervention in die Sammlung, Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart (2022).
