GABRIELA TĚTHALOVÁ
This painting also operates with the idea of chaos, in terms of the heritage of Sumerian culture. The most important point of inspiration is understanding and accepting impermanence as a natural feature of the world we live in. Ancient cultures saw instability as an opportunity to better understand the cosmological order, rather than holding on to the illusion of stability. The painting’s motive was inspired by the remains of a stone monument (ca 2150 BC) showing vases with an endless flow of water. Here, the vase is expanded into a vessel, fruit, or the heart, and what flows within might be beams of light, consciousness, or other personification of life. The second meaning of the title and the flag describes a ship carrying light to help navigate on the sea, which could symbolize hope and trust in the meaning of life, where the only certainty is constant change.
