ÇAĞLA ULUSOY
74 3/4 x 78 3/4 in
In this painting, Çağla Ulusoy approaches image-making as a form of accumulation rather than composition. Fragments of landscape, ornament, gesture, digital memory and painterly abstraction collide within a densely painted surface where no single image remains stable. The title, a direct link to an adventure theme park in West Java, Indonesia, functions less as a destination than as a trace: one coordinate within a larger network of circulating images, places and associations.
Drawing from years of movement across cultures and visual environments, Ulusoy constructs compositions that mirror the logic of contemporary image culture, where meaning emerges through repetition, overlap and accidental connection. Reflecting on how her collages gradually became more abstract, Ulusoy notes: “I stopped thinking about the photographs as images and started using them more like brushstrokes, textures, or colour relationships.” Here, forms dissolve into colour, references become texture, and painting operates like a living collage, at once intuitive, and continuously transforming.
