Jak İhmalyan’s monograph, published in conjunction with his exhibition at Dirimart Pera, was recently launched at Minoa Pera, Sahne. The event featured an insightful conversation between the book’s editor, Levent Özmen, and academic, writer, and curator Sevengül Sönmez. The publication provides a comprehensive examination of the life and work of Jak İhmalyan (1922–1978), who left Istanbul at a young age and spent much of his life in various cities across the Eastern Bloc. The monograph aims to raise new questions and spark areas of curiosity, encouraging a fresh critical engagement with İhmalyan’s poignant, original, and rich artistic legacy.
