Summer Wheat’s Fruits of Labor is on view at the SCAD Museum of Art, Georgia, USA, from 3 July to 6 October 2025. The exhibition features six paintings by the artist, inspired by Greek mythology, animal symbolism, and astrology. Towering hybrids of fruits and animals, as well as expansive canvases, draw viewers into a serene, imaginative world. In this new body of work, Wheat portrays women as nurturing figures in moments of rest and contentment, often accompanied by animals that are depicted with surprising gentleness and calm. Rather than focusing solely on labour, the series celebrates the moments of well-earned rest and pleasure that follow collective effort. The artist’s striking, layered paintings invite viewers to explore a blend of depth and flatness, order and instinct, and serve as gateways to imaginary worlds where hard work is truly rewarded.
