Ayşe Erkmen will be in conversation with Liberty Adrien, co-curator of It’s Just a Matter of Time, for an artist talk at PalaisPopulaire on 4 June 2025, as part of the exhibition. The conversation will centre on Erkmen’s conceptual practice and societal interconnections with a particular emphasis on her work Balkanık (2003/2025), presented in the exhibition at Café LePopulaire in the form of a cake. Based on a traditional recipe and reinterpreted by the artist through her own instructions, the artwork brings together ingredients from diverse cultures, prompting reflection on transcultural exchange through the medium of taste. Balkanık unfolds as a sensory experience, while also resonating with the structure of the Palais itself, offering a space shaped by layers of historical and cultural transformation.
