Ayşe Erkmen at PalaisPopulaire

Ayşe Erkmen participates in It’s Just a Matter of Time, a group exhibition at PalaisPopulaire in Berlin. Curated by Liberty Adrien and Carina Bukuts, the exhibition combines historical and contemporary works from the Deutsche Bank Collection alongside selected loans, exploring how different temporalities intersect within art and architecture. Reflecting on the layered history of PalaisPopulaire, once home to Prussian princesses and later transformed into a museum, war ruin, and GDR-era opera café, the exhibition examines how past narratives persist and evolve within physical spaces. Like art collections that document shifting socio-political landscapes through the works they contain and those they don’t, the exhibition evokes a sense of absence, revealing the ways in which history continues to shape the present. It’s Just a Matter of Time will be on view from 10 April to 18 August 2025.
