Shirin Neshat at Bonn Women’s Museum

Shirin Neshat is featured in Steine räumen für den Frieden – Künstlerinnen aus Nahost und Osteuropa, a group exhibition at Frauenmuseum, Bonn, running from 24 November 2024 to 8 March 2025. Showcasing works by over forty female artists from conflict regions such as Kurdish areas, Syria, Turkey, Georgia, Afghanistan, and Ukraine, the exhibition explores themes of war, displacement, and resilience. Blending contemporary and historical perspectives, the exhibition also highlights figures like the Sumerian priestess Enheduanna and the peace treaty between Nefertari and Puduhepa as enduring symbols of peace and dialogue. A documentary section on the current situation in Ukraine further contextualises the global impact of conflict. Steine räumen für den Frieden invites viewers to engage with these powerful narratives and reflect on art’s role in fostering peace and social change.
