Shirin Neshat is featured in Mis(s)treated: More than your Muse!, a group exhibition at Kunsthalle Bremen, running from 22 February to 3 August 2025. The museum’s New Perceptions team curates the exhibition, critically examines the representation of women artists in Kunsthalle Bremen’s collection and highlights feminist perspectives that have long been overlooked. Taking inspiration from Linda Nochlin’s 1971 essay, Mis(s)treated explores how female artists have historically been marginalised in museums while often serving as artistic subjects. The exhibition juxtaposes works from Kunsthalle Bremen’s collection with contemporary pieces, addressing themes of identity, gender roles, care work, and societal expectations.
