Ghada Amer at The Met

Ghada Amer participates in the group exhibition titled Flight into Egypt: Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876–Now, currently on view at The Met, New York. The exhibition examines over 150 years of artistic and cultural engagement with ancient Egypt, spanning visual art, sculpture, literature, music, scholarship, and performance. Gathering nearly 200 works from The Met collection and international loans, the exhibition explores themes such as the use of ancient Egyptian imagery in shaping cultural identities, the contributions of Black scholars to Egyptology, and the connections between modern and contemporary Egyptian artists and their ancient heritage. For the first time at The Met, live performances are integrated into a dedicated gallery space as part of the exhibition. Flight into Egypt: Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876–Now can be visited until 17 February 2025.
