Nuri Bilge Ceylan at Eye Filmmuseum

Eye Filmmuseum will present the first Dutch exhibition on the celebrated filmmaker and photographer Nuri Bilge Ceylan from 17 January to 11 May 2025. The exhibition will bring together Ceylan’s award-winning films and Cinemascope landscape photographs for the first time. Known for his introspective approach, Ceylan explores human emotions and existential themes in his movies while reflecting on the contrasts of Turkish society, like the relationships between city and countryside, secularism and religion, and individualism and collectivism – offering a perspective that bridges the universal and the local. The exhibition features the artist’s films such as Distant (2002), Climates (2006), and Winter Sleep (2014), which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, offering an opportunity to explore Ceylan’s achievements in both cinema and photography.
