Ayşe Erkmen is featured in Language/Text/Image – Can you hear me? Can you see me?, an exhibition on view from 27 June to 7 December 2025 at KAI 10 | ARTHENA FOUNDATION, Düsseldorf. Originally presented at the Draiflessen Collection in Mettingen, the exhibition is curated by Dr Barbara Segelken and Birte Hinrichsen. Bringing together works from the 1950s to today, the exhibition explores the social and political dynamics of language, text, and image. In Language/Text/Image, Ayşe Erkmen deconstructs a Latin-based dummy text to resemble non-Western script forms, drawing attention to systems of communication and exclusion. With media ranging from photography and print to sound, video, and textile, the exhibition challenges viewers to reconsider how meaning is constructed and transmitted, especially in the context of digital interconnectivity and its impact on visibility, voice, and memory.
