With her single-channel video installation titled Harem (2009), İnci Eviner will take part in Colonial Memory, a group exhibition hosted by Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid from 25 June to 20 October 2024. Curated by Juan Ángel López and his team, the exhibition delves into the colonial foundations of modern Western society and their persistent impact on global relations. Unveiling the narratives of racial domination and the exploitation of non-European peoples and resources, Colonial Memory challenges visitors to reconsider the portrayal of the ‘Orient’ and the historical ‘other’.
