Tomokazu Matsuyama’s solo exhibition Mythologiques, organised by the Contemporary Istanbul Foundation, curated by Christoph Doswald and running concurrently with La Biennale di Venezia, is now open. Matsuyama, bridging his heritage between Japan and the USA, presents a bicultural narrative through his vibrant art, exploring the tension between local familiarity and global universality. The exhibition engages with Venice’s rich cultural backdrop and features eight large-scale paintings. Highlighting the show is the monumental You One Me Erase, embodying Matsuyama’s fusion of art historical references with contemporary symbols, creating a dialogue on cultural hybridity and global design influences. The exhibition is located at Magazzino No.41, Marina Militare, Arsenale di Venezia and open to the public until 24 November 2024. The exhibition catalogue was published by Vienna-based Verlag für moderne Kunst.
