Karin Kneffel at Museum Franz Gertsch

From 23 March to 1 September 2024, the Museum Franz Gertsch, located in Switzerland, presents Karin Kneffel’s exhibition titled Face of a Woman, Head of a Child. Internationally acclaimed for her monumental paintings filled with ripe apples and grapes, Kneffel unveils a new series of Madonnas that addresses religious and art-historical themes in a complex and modern way. Created during the isolation years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the series features detailed depictions of the Virgin Mary and the Infant Jesus, exploring themes of maternal compassion and prophetic foresight through polychromed diptychs. The exhibition, organised under the patronage of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, H.E. Michael Flügger, can be visited until 1 September 2024.
