Debuted at the Kurhaus Kleve Museum on 29 October 2023, Karin Kneffel’s solo exhibition Face of a Woman, Head of a Child showcases a new series of works created by the artist during the pandemic. Generally focusing on human figures in her practice, Kneffel, in this series, paints medieval Madonna sculptures from the 14th to the 16th centuries from a colourful perspective, emphasising the emotional depth of these figures by focusing on the faces of Mary and Jesus. The exhibition will be on display at the Kleve Museum until 18 February 2024 and will continue to be presented to the audience at the Franz Gertsch Museum from 23 March to 1 September 2024.
