Shirin Neshat is among the five winners of this year’s prestigious Praemium Imperiale award. Given annually since 1989 by the Japan Art Association, the award celebrate the life-time achievements of five artists in the fields of painting, sculpture, architecture, music, and theatre/film. Previous The Praemium Imperiale award recipients include Martin Scorsese, Frank Gehry and Cindy Sherman.
