Ayşe Erkmen at Arter

Ayşe Erkmen is featured in The Sky Was Candy, a group exhibition at Arter, Istanbul, opened to the public on 24 June and curated by Selen Ansen. Approaching the notions of home and homeland not as fixed places, but as evolving relationships of belonging continuously shaped by memory and experience, the exhibition explores themes of belonging, migration, longing and the search for home.

Erkmen contributes to the exhibition with her work
Image 3017, her first reproducible print that she produced for the 4th Internationnal Istanbul Biennial (1995), transforming the material and technical conditions that make an image possible into a field of aesthetic inquiry and establishing a connection with the exhibition’s focus on domestic space. The Sky Was Candy will remain on view until 28 March 2027 at Arter.
