"I never met Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, yet I have always felt as if I had known him. My mother, who had been interested in painting since childhood, studied under the legendary teacher Bedri Rahmi at an educational institution then known as L.C:C. At that time, the artist, who experimented with different techniques in his own work, would have his students create New Year’s postcards. I remember mailing these cards—artworks in their own right—to friends and family during the holiday season.
Moreover, through a close childhood friend whose family regularly visited Bedri Rahmi and his wife Eren, I heard countless anecdotes about their studio-home in Kalamış. Even without meeting him, I began tracing the traces of the painter, writer, poet, and educator I admired across the streets and buildings of Istanbul—a pursuit I have cherished since my youth."
