Shirin Neshat's fury is a hopeful call for peace

Shirin Neshat's solo exhibition titled "The Fury" consisting of a dual-channel video installation and a series of black and white photographs, opened at Dirimart Pera. The artist, who reveals emotions unleashed as a reaction to the rise of fascism worldwide, addresses the sexual violence suffered by politically imprisoned women through her video installation. During her visit to Istanbul, we had a conversation about both her exhibition and her previous works. In our conversation, which lasted over an hour, I witnessed her eyes welling up at times as she spoke about her work, the situations and issues she confronts and struggles against. It was a very emotional and inspiring conversation for me.
