Berke Yazıcıoğlu, who creates works across various mediums such as digital drawing, painting, illustration and design, is meeting his audience at Dirimart Pera with an exhibition bringing together his recent paintings and drawings.
In his work titled “Gece Vakti” (Night Time), the artist intertwines painting and graphics, presenting a practice constructed through bodies and objects that is completed by merging with the viewer’s experience.
Depicted in a manner reminiscent of a classical music composition using minimal elements, the paintings—featuring undefined, genderless bodies and abstract imagery—are presented in Yazıcıoğlu’s composition as fragments of a whole, set to an irregular rhythm. In her paintings, forms that emerge in the darkness of night or are partially shrouded in darkness are transformed, through the artist’s hand, into bodiless objects of desire, abstracted from the flesh.
