Curated by Ali Akay, the 6th Mardin Biennial titled Further Away showcases 41 artists, including Ayşe Erkmen, Güçlü Öztekin, İnci Eviner, Nasan Tur, Sarkis, and Yüksel Arslan, exploring the theme of transcending societal limits. Organised in Mardin, the Biennial probes into the possibilities of coexistence and democracy among living beings, inspired by the concept of ‘katastema’, an Epicurean concept referring to the moment of reaching serenity – as body and soul – through the absence of pain. Open to the public from 10 May to 10 June 2024, the Biennial invites viewers to imagine beyond present challenges, fostering a dialogue on a harmonious future among all beings.
