Shirin Neshat: “I could never do a job that didn’t touch upon pain and violence.”

Shirin Neshat, in her exhibition *The Fury * at Fotografiska in Stockholm from September 1, 2023 to February 18, 2024, confronted us with women clad in their dignity. No nudity has ever appeared so self-evident to the viewer. It's a heavy experience; you feel complicit in crimes you can't name. Neshat aims to unleash our anger while transforming many emotions, and she succeeds in a shocking way. We spoke with the artist about her anger, her hopes, and the changes in her work and in Iranian women since the 1990s.
