“For many young collectors, Contemporary Istanbul is a springboard,” says Levent Özmen, international gallery director of Dirimart, a gallery based in Istanbul and London. “A large part of the audience comes to the fair to acquire their first artwork. But established collectors are also always very excited about the galleries’ selections. The curiosity of collectors from different generations always makes for stimulating conversations and a productive atmosphere at the fair.”
Dirimart's stand this year showcases the full range of its gallery program, which features internationally renowned names such as Ayşe Erkmen, Sarah Morris, Shirin Neshat, Anselm Reyle, Ugo Rondinone and Jorinde Voigt: 30 works by 25 artists, primarily in the media of video, sculpture and installation, are on display.
Nicole Büsing and Heiko Klaas interviews Levent Özmen about the 21th edition of Contemporary Istanbul.
