Contemporary Istanbul 2026

Dirimart is pleased to announce its participation in the 21st edition of Contemporary Istanbul, taking place at Tersane Istanbul from 23 September, with a VIP preview, through 27 September 2026. Welcoming visitors at Hall B101, the gallery will bring together different generations, geographies and modes of expression across modern and contemporary art through works by thirty-five artists. Spanning figures who have shaped the course of Turkish art history and leading names in the international contemporary art scene, the presentation brings together diverse approaches to individual and collective memory, perception, the body, space and nature across painting, sculpture, photography, video and installation.

The selection brings together key figures in Turkey’s modern art history, including Âbidin Elderoğlu, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, Fahrelnissa Zeid and Jak İhmalyan; artists such as Sarkis, Canan Tolon, Ayşe Erkmen and İnci Eviner, whose practices have extended from Turkey into international contexts; and artists representing diverse currents within contemporary art, including Çiğdem Aky, Ebru Duruman, Jennifer İpekel, Güçlü Öztekin, Seçkin Pirim and Çağla Ulusoy. This historical and generational continuum is expanded through the practices of international artists including Ghada Amer, Tony Cragg, Georgina Gratrix, Gregor Hildebrandt, Karin Kneffel, Jin Meyerson, Anselm Reyle, Ugo Rondinone, Jorinde Voigt, Summer Wheat and Peter Zimmermann.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan brings a distinctive perspective shaped by photography and cinema, while Özlem Günyol & Mustafa Kunt, Nasan Tur, Olivia Sterling, Emma Stern and Gabriela Těthalová contribute diverse approaches to contemporary artistic production and its modes of thinking.

With the first-time presentation of artists including Yulia Iosilzon and Andreas Schmitten, alongside a booth refreshed daily with different works, Dirimart’s presentation at Contemporary Istanbul 2026 brings voices from different periods and geographies into dialogue within Istanbul’s dynamic art scene. Through this evolving presentation, the gallery seeks to create an open space for exchange between the continuities of art history and artistic production today.
