Emma Stern’s Tiger Lily (Swamp Thang) and Sandy (Crows Nest) are featured in the group exhibition Friends, Lovers, and Me: Recent Acquisitions, which opened to the public at the Rubell Museum in Washington, DC, on 2 September 2026. Bringing together recently acquired works from the Rubell Museum’s collection, the exhibition explores how contemporary artists engage with concepts such as friendship, love, intimacy, the self, and interpersonal relationships. Through figuration and portraiture, the works on view offer diverse interpretations of individual experiences, emotional connections, and identity. Friends, Lovers, and Me: Recent Acquisitions will remain on view at the Rubell Museum DC through autumn 2027.
