Hyperbole Rising creates abstract universes that spark our curiosity about the unknown and undiscovered.
Dirimart announces Gabriela Těthalová’s first solo exhibition at the gallery, Hyperbole Rising. The debut exhibition in Istanbul showcases her latest works inspired by French poet and critic Mallarmé’s ‘Prose (for des Esseintes)’.
Těthalová begins her artistic exploration by juxtaposing painting with written music. She seeks to create abstract works that tap into deeply aesthetic values, often inaccessible consciously, while investigating the role of rhythm in music, literature, poetry, and visual arts. Her compositions skilfully blend originally crafted spatial algebraic structures with subtle hints of floral and figurative forms. The combination results in unique compositions aiming for beauty in abstraction, which is mostly perceived nonverbally. Rather than mystifying the complexities of modern beauty, her work invites a broader interpretation of abstraction across disciplines and generations.
In Hyperbole Rising, Gabriela Těthalová investigates how to contribute to the contemporary aesthetics of a society based on information theory, internet networks, and cryptography. Viewers may notice that the mathematical mechanics, usually expressed in equations and formulas, have transformed into detailed visual compositions. The accompanying installations enrich the exhibition with reflections on the relationships between material, painting, performance, and language.
Hyperbole Rising creates abstract universes of Space Webs, Multiplicity of Stems, Magic Spell Devices, and Flower Anatomy, pointing to a common root that nurtures our curiosity about the unknown and enhances our intuitive understanding.
Hyperbole Rising will be on view at Dirimart Pera from 8 January to 16 February 2025.
